Avoid Shopping Lamps Plus

For years, I had been a Lamps Plus customer (mostly online) and generally was satisfied with their products and service. Then late last year, I ordered two lamps that should have been identical, but were not. Quite similar, yes, but identical, no. Basically, the shades were different, but there were other elements that were slightly dissimilar. To make matters worse, the quality was very poor. This particular lamp was being closed out and their Web site stated that they would not accept returns for it. I found it interesting that given the fact there were very few of this item remaining, Lamps Plus showed no product reviews for this lamp. It wasn't evident to me at first that there was more wrong with the lamps other than not being identical, which made it necessary for me to phone Lamps Plus more than once to complain. They didn't take a three-way bulb, which was stated in the description; a small embellishment on one of the lamps was broken off, which I hadn't noticed when I unpacked the cartons. The finials didn't even screw on properly. In other words, these two lamps were a bunch of junk. It was at this point when their customer service people became rude and difficult to work with and insisted that I could not return them for a refund. They couldn't understand why I failed to mention all the problems with these lamps when I phoned the first time to complain that they were not identical. It was at this point when I told the very rude customer service rep that I would be contacting my credit card company to become involved. It was then that I was told I would be given a "one-time-only courtesy return" opportunity, but to never ask to return another product in the future. I reminded Lamps Plus that I had been a customer of theirs for years and had spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on their products and I found their attitude insulting. I was shocked by their treatment. I did return the lamps and received a refund, but when I left a negative review of this lamp (it still appeared in their Web site and showed they had a few left in stock), my review was never posted. In fact, this was the second time I had left a negative review for two different products, and neither review ever appeared in their Web site. They have lost me forever as a customer. I wouldn't purchase something as simple as a light bulb from these people. This company is ok as long as what you select to buy isn't a piece of junk that you ask to return for a refund, but who needs to take that chance? And to not post a negative review of one of their products (in my case two separate products two years apart) is deceptive on their part. NEVER AGAIN.
