I ordered a "deluxe" gardenia ($69.99 +shipping) for my mother's birthday. The delivery was confirmed via email, but on her birthday (June 3rd) I got another email indicting that Flowers.com would send and apology note and deliver the plant the next day. THey didn't, instead they put my order on hole. I called to reinitiate the order. The reason for the firtst delay was because the local florist did not have "a plant of adequate quality". I thought OK, this is reasonable, and it will get there a couple days late. Again, no delivery by June 6th, when I called FLowers.com to ask why nothing (apology note or plant) had yet been sent. I was told the order could be completed that very day, and was releived. No one said anything about the gardenia being unavailable or about any substitiutions. They DID deliver something, a tacky piece of crap dish with a paper drag". onfly and a geranium in it. When I called to complaing, I wastold to read the substitution agreement, which states that they may substitute an equal or greater value plant that is similar in size and type if needed. I contacted them again, and complained that the item they sent did not comply with their own substitution policy, and asked for a refund. They sent me a reply email that basically said, "Sorry, no refund and we get to deliver what we want." This company has terrible customer service and is irresponsibel. I'll never order anything from them again...a total rip off.
