What do you mean by "Former" SHLEP?
I don't remember you sending in your resignation. More importantly, are you still adequately short?
Welcome back Mary. Wishing you a healthy, happy 2008.

Late to the gathering - But fashionable LOL! I hope each and every one of you are doing well and had a great Christmas!
This year wound up being crazy, but not so much that I haven't found some time to catch up on "little things" that mean so much to me. Hehe :)
Still watching over the SHLEPS.... Jam ;)
Big Hugs!

I (also) seem to have a bad case of CRS---so, in case I forget again, it's not5'3" to join SHELP. It's 5'4"! :) Sorry about that but hey, 5-3 was stuck in my memory bank...it's gonna take several defrag's, maybe a scan or two, along with a reformat to completely erase what was tattooed on my hard drive. I'll have a huge serving of crow for supper tonight.

yes, there is a list somewhere
-- maybe dusty has it?
A couple of months ago, I took all my genealogy files along with some CD's and personal items and stored them in a unit for safekeeping (going through a divorce) so I don't have any of my "stuff" on hand.
I'm sorry I can't be of help.

I can't tell any difference with the badge from my end on my computer...is anyone having trouble when checking out my profile page? If so, could you let me know? Thanks.

I took the badge down because it was so big that it messed up my profile page
-- I will put it in as a link to one of my favorite sites, instead

Badges! (Reply to this comment)
by dianapinions
Tessa, I referenced your profile page, to show off the badges, but you've taken your badge down! I hope you'll consider putting it back up there.
One of these days, I'll put the badge on my own profile page.

FIVE FOOT FOUR! (Reply to this comment)
by dianapinions
The cut off for membership has always been 5'4". That's what my profile page has always said.
Trust me on this one: I'm 5'4" and I definitely qualify! LOL!
We once took a vote on whether iamrachael could join, at 5'5", and we vetoed her proposal. That's when the HALES (High Altitude Ladies of EpinionS) and SHLEP-As were formed.

"Word is, a talking doll is in the works."
Well, Fishy, you may recall that a certin WilliamPinn wrote up a funny piece where he turned us into bobble-head dolls.
Ummmm..... I cannot exactly reference that essay here, as it .... ummmmm..... no longer exists in EpinionsVille.

That's a place? I thought micronesia was the condition that causes Shlepism.

In all seriousness (Reply to this comment)
by ddustyrose
It has been a great pleasure to me to be part of SHLEP's (and President, no less).
I was part of the "beginning" and it was so cool! I think I have the biggest SHELP badge on my profile page than anyone else. :)

We're having our family Christmas this weekend but I needed some time to chill and how better to do that than get on the computer. Everything has quietened down around the house--it's been chaotic and fun (with no questions asked about the divorce nor has it been mentioned).
It's been a good Christmas and special in many ways.
To each and every one of you, Thanks for memories!

I recently read somewhere that the original Cro-Magnon ShLEps came from a little village in Micronesia.

Yes, we're running short of Shleppy phrases. Pocket sized might be the last of the Moshlepkans.

Seems . . . (Reply to this comment)
by rkingfish
You've boiled-down the phenomenon of ShLEp-ism into the appropriate pocket-sized* posting on this dignified and diminutive day.
Next comes the marketing avalanche. Word is, a talking doll is in the works. Nattering Nellie™ will speak-up a mini-storm; measuring-in at under a foot (in platform shoes, no less!). Kids like her 'cause she never talks-down to them.
Several accessories (stepstools, ladders, booster seats) will be available (at extra cost) as she attempts to ankle-in and de-throne Barbie for the title of "Queen of the Knee-High Novelites".
Just pull the string and she utters phrases like "How's the weather up there?", "Could I ask a small favor?" and "We need more mustard, capers and potato puffs". "Watch your step, mister!" will be programmed-in as the oft-repeated defensive default phrase.
As of this otherwise brief press release, no announcement of suggested retail price has been issued...
*pocket-sized - the only synonym listed in my Roget's Thesaurus I haven't seen used to describe ShLEp-ism.

Shlepdom has been quite a little phenomenon.
I like "Epinionsville".
And re:"My cup runneth over;"
I'll have to bite my tongue on that one.

When I get a chance, I will try to summon the energy to add links to this piece, and then you will be reminded of the locked MB thread. We were aiming to beat the record for the MB thread with the most comments, and the comments spiraled a bit out of control. And the well meaning moderators finally locked us down. (Can't really blame them, although I was a LITTLE bit frustrated at the time, I must admit).
Yes, I want to add links to this piece, and also I'd like to keep a complete LIST of all the members somewhere, and maybe this is the place. (That's the reference to a LIST, in the title).
