The Worst of 2007

Jan 02 '08

The Bottom Line 2007 sucked. I'm ready for the New Year.

Well, I had a totally wasted good-hair-day today. I got out of bed and got ready for work this morning, and had the best hair day I've had in ages. However, about an hour after I arrived at work, I realized that I was about to endure a nasty stomach bug that my child has obviously passed to me. Now that I've regained some composure after lying on the couch watching I love New York reruns and making mad dashes to the bathroom, I decided to write about the horrible year that was 2007.

I'm not much for writing about feelings, and I think I've only posted once in the writer's corner other than some goofy-write offs. I've actually been accused of guarding my feelings. Gasp. Nonetheless, I actually intended to write about 2007 on January 1st as it seemed more appropriate, but I was suffering from a hangover from the 31st, and didn't quite make it in time.

First of all, I have to say that it's good to be back on Epinions. I've been a member of Epinions for just over 7 years, and just recently hit my 100th review milestone this past December. I don't think I would have reached it so fast if it weren't for that "10 for 10" craze of December. I was determined to grab up a quick $100. I struggled and broke my record for number of reviews I've ever written in one month. I wrote an impressive 11 reviews. It stressed me out a little, and now the friggin' craze is continuing in January. I'm pumped.

I had a couple of absences from Epinions. One a few years back, and the most recent was from January 2006 until September 2007. It's good to see that things, for the most part, haven't changed. I just wish Doc was still around. Thanks to the area in which I live, I had the opportunity to meet some outstanding writers. I've met Bryan_Carey, melissasrn, and skbreese. Not only are they great writers, they are great people as well. As you can tell by the suit, Bryan_Carey has retired and just "writing for fun" now after making $10 million during his first 2 years at Epinions.

One thing that you can't forget are the terms you find only on Epinions. I used to be a SAHM, which I pronounce like Saddam, but without the Ds. However, I hadn't found Epinions at that time. There are lots of SAHMs (or Stay-at-Home-Moms, for those who joined yesterday). These gals write lots of Kid and Family and Beauty product reviews, and from what I've seen, they tend to be the experts. Other terms that seem pretty much exclusive to Epinions are "Rubber Stamper" and "Trust Slut." That last one cracks me up. Who the hell came up with "Trust Slut?" It had to be someone who had 2000 trusters, and themselves trust 3 people. Who knows. Anyway, I can see why someone just joining the site would trust a lot of people in hopes that others would trust them back because those with a lot of trusters seem to have more notoriety. Besides, it's everyone's right to do what they want with their WOT. That's all I have to say about that.

So what about this horrible year and why didn't I manage to post a thing from 1-06 to 9-07? For starters, I separated from my husband of 10 years in January. He can be found on Epinions under the ID of volfan75. He wrote back in 2001 when what would qualify as a VH review now would constitute a borderline H/VH. If you check out his profile, you can see that I was his "dream wife." What can I say? I got it like that. Anyway, we were and are great friends who grew apart emotionally and our divorce was final in November 2007. My parents had a harder time with it than I did, and they let me know it. I became really depressed, and had to go on depression medication. Prozac to be exact. My depression led to an 8 week leave of absence from work to recuperate. As a result of the happy pill, I added about 30 pounds. Granted I'm still smokin' and my rack is that much better due to the fact that I gain weight from the waist up unlike most women, but I'm getting tired of lugging this extra weight around.

I have a friend I recently introduced to the site by the ID of elrico63. If he ever caught on, he would write tremendous reviews on this site, but he hasn't caught the bug, and it's just hard to explain the addiction to people. My addiction is back, and I intend to write 100 reviews in January. I know it won't happen, but it's good to be back in a community of great folks after a cruddy year. Here's to 2008! Drink up!
