I ordered, a Channel Master Cable Drop Amp, the same product I had previously bought from another online vendor several months earlier. That order had shipped and was delivered by Federal Express ground in three days from Michigan to Florida. Since this product was now out of stock with this vendor, I chose an alternative vendor, SummitSource.com. I called SummitSource.com to verify that it was in stock. I immediately ordered one and selected ground shipping. Their website states that items in stock are shipped the same day, if placed by 2:00PM EST. My order was placed at 12:45PM on Thursday, June 10. Their shipping charge was $12.12 plus a non-optional shipping insurance charge of $1.50. My previous purchase from the other vendor had a shipping charge of $6.95 for three day Federal Express ground. At this point I sensed I should have stopped the purchase. I received an email within three hours confirming the order and advising me the transaction was complete. I checked my credit card account online and found the charge was already posted. On Friday morning, I received an email that my order was processing. So much for same day shipping. On Monday afternoon, I received an email advising me the item had shipped. Strangely, I was given a United States Post Office (USPS) tracking number and a link to "UPS Mail Innovations" (UPSMI). After doing online research of UPSMI and reading a great deal of negative feedback, I knew my problem had begun. UPSMI is some sort of relationship between United Parcel Service (UPS) and (USPS) where packages are shipped by UPS from the vendor to a post office and then shipped via USPS to the final destination. It is supposed cut down on delivery time and expense. The shipment took the following path: · Order placed online - 6/10/10 · Originated from Fort Wayne, IN - 6/14/10 · Received at UPSMI Groveport, OH - 6/14/210 · Processed at UPSMI Groveport, OH - 6/15/10 · Received at UPSMI at Orlando, FL - 6/16/10 · Received at USPS W. Palm Beach, FL - 6/17/10 · Received at USPS Palm City, FL and delivered - 6/18/10 This entire process took eight days from Fort Wayne, Indiana, which is ridiculous for the amount I spent on shipping. If I had known this, I never would have placed the order. I will never purchase anything from SummitSource.com again and I will never allow any other vendor to ship anything to me using UPSMI. I have purchased many items online and I am surprised at myself for falling into this situation.
