My house plants are doing ok this fall & winter, but they could be doing so much better. They seem to be asking me for something more than just the occasional drink of water I bestow on them. "What is it, little plants? What is it that you need?"
After asking these questions many times (& even trying to play various kinds of music from Adam Ant to Andrea Bocelli), I finally came across a neat little web site called Planet Natural. As their site proudly proclaims underneath a cool looking ladybug, "Good stuff for your world!"
I started off with a 1 lb bag of their "Worm Castings," which is pretty strange sounding stuff. In essence, it's what's left over after worms have chowed down on some of good ole' Mother Earth. It's really fertile & potent stuff if I must say so myself. I re-potted 2 or 3 of my smaller, countertop house plants in this mixture about a month ago...& they are really taking off! Who would've thought that worm leftovers would cheer my plants up?!?! I've just ordered more of the "Worm Castings" from Planet Natural ($1.50 for a 1 lb bag) & am waiting for it to arrive so that more of my houseplants can be re-potted.
I have also ordered a Catnip & Catgrass Garden (for indoors) @ $12.50 & will let y'all now how kitty likes it. I've reordered their Earth Enzymes Drain Opener ($10.50 for a nice size bottle). This is an environmentally friendly product that really, really opens up your slow drains (make sure to follow their directions carefully, though)...works just as well as name brand products & won't hurt the environment. I'm always looking for "green" products that truly work, & I've found it in this 1!
Last but not least, I decided to try something for my outdoor plants that isn't toxic & beneficial to all concerned (animal, mineral & plant). I've ordered Lady Beetles (aka Ladybugs) @ $8.25 for 2,000; Lacewing Eggs @ $6.95 for 1,000; Praying Mantis' @ $6.95 for 3 egg cases (which will produce tons of them per egg case); plus "Superior Bug Bloom ($5.95) & Wheast - Lacewing & Ladybug food - @ $3.00...to keep the buggies around & happy. Some of you may cringe at the thought that I'm actually putting bugs into my garden, but these bugs do not eat your plants, but eat the other bugs & larvae that do eat your plants & veggies, therefore making them very helpful & "friendly." Although I won't receive the bugs until warmer weather arrives here in southern NY state, I'm anxious to see how they work out & happy that I probably won't have to put down anything toxic.
The site itself is really nice & is very descriptive about all of their products. I like that because I need all the help I can get on certain things. The shipping on all of my above items was amazingly low! All of their in stock orders ship on the same day if your order is received by Noon Mountain time or else they ship the following day.
I whole-heartedly recommend Planet Natural!
