I too was a victim of a misspoken salesperson! (Reply to this comment)

Just read my review. The sales rep told us we would be able to use a 10 dollar nation wide option then go back to our regular plan after a month. This was their vacation option. Well, the promotional offer expired and we were informed by the very rude condescending customer service reps that we were not eligible for this option any longer. In a few words, we got ripped off.

I agree with your comments but only to a certain point and my "actual beef" is with my mother-in-law.
I disagree with it being out of the hands of Alltel, they chose to ignore my requests and to not intervene or assist in the matter. This collection agency is probably wholly owned or at least in part by Alltel. Even if they are not, Alltel is condoning the harassment by doing business with the agency. Also, Alltel should have stepped-up to honor their sales practices. Misleading statements was a common practice by Alltel sales people in Arkansas, Wal-Mart threatened to remove them from their stores if it continued.
Since you favor Alltel so much, I will not try to persuade you otherwise, but please, don't try to make Alltel an innocent party in this action.

...it sounds like your beef is not with alltel but the collection agency that they sent your mothers defaulted bill to.. based on what you said, they were in the right to send a bill to a collection agency as she didn't pay.. from that point it would have been out of their hands...
either way, this really does not say much about alltel, only that your mother didn't pay her bill and was sent to a collection agency.. normal practice with any company, wireless or not, don't pay your bill, have legal action taken..
