After talking with several different Cellular companies we decided to sign up with Cingular because of the low cost for two phones and the promise that we would have service in the areas we had specified.
After using the phones for a few weeks, we came to realize that we had very little coverage in our area where we live and none at all in the other areas we had asked about. Basically they lied to us to get us to sign up with them.
After contacting numerous managers within the company we had our contract canceled without the early termination fee since the service we were promised was not even close to what they were capable of providing. We gave them back all the equipment we purchased and they promised us a refund check in the mail by that Friday.
It has been 2 months since the cancellation of service and we have seen no refund at all. We call them every few days and no one will return our calls. I have written complaints to the Better Business Bureau and the FCC and to the main office of Cingular in California and Atlanta and still gotten no response.
I will take any chance I can to tell people to sign up with another company. If you find yourself thinking about Cingular please don't do it. Go to another company and tell them what Cingular is willing to offer as far as price and accessories and they will most likely match it. We ended up going to AT&T Wireless and they matched the $20 for two phones, waived our activation fees and gave us free accessories just for signing up with them. We are EXTREMELY happy with their service and would encourage anyone to sign up with AT&T or any other service rather than Cingular.
