Thanks. "The Stage Names" is pretty great and glad I could get your approval with a top five ranking. Interestingly enough, of all the albums on this list I've probably listened most to the Stage Names in 2008.
Thanks for commenting.
Dave.

great list, for sure. i put okkervil river at the top of my list, but you had it in the top five, so that'll do. :)

Yeah, I really was surprised how overlooked this record was in almost all year end lists. I definately see it having sort of an "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea" effect, though, where people will be all over the album in a few years. And then, when it becomes really cool to like Random Spirit Lover, you'll be able to say you had it on vinyl. I'm actually tempted to go out and do the same.

I suppose that you and I and maybe a few stereogum readers will forever be Random Spirit Lover's only champions. Actually, I suspect that the public will catch up with this record in the long run. It's simply too grand and fulfilling to be ignored forever. But I really still can't believe that it only landed on one Metacritic Top 10. I love it so much that I bought the vinyl too.

I thought Dan Decon would be higher, and I was a bit surprised at Leckman and Radiohead being so high, but beyond that I the list is pretty solid.

We're you surprised of the items on the list, or the order? Just wondering.

I've been waiting for this list for awhile now, and I had a feeling Sunset would be at the top. The rest of the list I was a bit surprised of. If 2008 can come close to '07, I think that we would both be happy.
Didn't Wowee win last year?
All though Canada has its presnce, the list I put out a couple of weeks ago favors Portland a bit more.
Sincerely Yours
Jens Lekmen
