Pros: This machine runs quick and is extremely easy to add parts to it.
Cons: The usb port did not work until a complete reinstall of the system happened.
The Bottom Line: I believe it is a great way to get involved into the computer scene once minor bugs that all computers seem to have get worked out.

My system works fine now. I have a total of 130 gig in hard drive space internal along with a firewire card, internal modem, ethernet card and 384 meg ram. The only problem I have run into was when I first received the machine, the usb ports were not working. After calling Gateway support and working through many ideas they mentioned to me, the solution was to do a complete hard drive format and reinstall from the Gateway cds that came with the machine. After that happened, the usb ports have worked ever since. I use linux and win98se on this Gateway 700 mhz machine and also use DSL via Earthlink through 2 ethernet cards on another 400 mhz Redhat 6.2 Linux Gateway machine (my earlier model). Even though I had that usb problem earlier, I still recommend the Gateway to many of my friends because the machine runs smoothly and is extremely easy to use.
