The Bottom Line Ow, ow, ow, ow
After writing several hundred reviews, I find myself on the pointy end of one. I entered the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Contest with the novel that made the semi-finals in the Gather First Chapters contest. Of course, I forgot about it, but a few weeks ago a friend emailed me with her congratulations. Out of almost 5000 entries I had made it into the top 900. For the first while I had very strong positive response with a few negatives mixed in. Still, I was pretty happy with 21 of 28 reviews being 5 stars. Why wouldn't I be? Well, today I noticed something new when I checked my progress. A review from Publisher's Weekly! How exciting! Until I read the thing. The Publisher's Weekly reviewer HATED it. I get the feeling that I didn't give him or her what he or she thought he was going to get and now I'm wondering if I miscued the reader somehow, but this is the only time I've every had anyone call it "bad romantic comedy." It isn't comedy at all. If you want to see a pro pan something, take a look at the review on my entry. And then maybe you can download the chapter and rate and review it for me. It's a category romance, not a romantic comedy. www.amazon.com/Three-Alarm-Tenant-Official-Entrant/dp/B00122GTNW/ref=br_lf_m_1000189231_1_5_ttl?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&s=books&pf_rd_p=358564501&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_t=1401&pf_rd_i=1000189231&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1M0Y5CRCXGMV9CWNBGQE |
