Excellent website and Toys R Us's goodies

Toys R Us partnered with Amazon.com to launch the Toys R Us website which I think is very cool and intuitive. I am actually pretty surprised at the negative rating of this site so far, considering it has a great appearance and is backed by some of the best names in the business. My experience with it has been excellent and I really wish people look at it before making a judgement.
Whats is it all about?
As I said, this is the website of Toys R Us, but the partnership with Amazon has done wonders to it. The whole website now models the one of Amazon.com, and hence is superbly developed and intuitive. You can buy toys, books, music, video's, DVD's and software - all for children. If you have kids and you love them, Toys R Us has everything to offer to you. It has several superb features which I have tried to list down here:
- Its colorful appearance really makes it look like a website for kids. I mean as soon as you open it, the bright colors make you excited and whet your appetite for the rest of the website.
- You can shop for gifts by age. They have 7 age groups for kids and a section for grown ups. This really make life easy, as even in a store we most often find it difficult to find the right gifts for the age-group of our kids. This option is great and I only look in the category that I wish to search for.
- They have also categorized the gifts under different sections. You have gifts for boys and girls and toys are also categorized on the basis of whether they are boardgames or stuffed animals or outdoor games. Searching for toys becomes so much more easier as a result.
- They have also listed the various gifts and items on the basis of their brands. Thus if I am only interested in LEGO games, I can go to the LEGO section straightaway.
- They have the option of creating a baby registry, perfect for birthdays.
- They have a superb toy outlet center, where you can get discounted toys for less. Considering that most people complain about the high price of Toys r Us, I think this allows you to get cheap toys from them.
- Like Amazon.com, they keep advertising free shipping offers every now and then on various products.
- Like Amazon.com they track your previous purchases and searches and suggest gift ideas based on your previous preferences. I find it quite cool that they do give me suggestions, because I am pretty bad at coming up with new ideas everytime.
- You have the options of gift-wrapping, gift certificates and you can create a wish-list hoping for that someone to buy you your favorite teddy:-).
Payment and Shipping
You can pay using all major credit cards and Toys R Us offers the same shipping options as amazon.com. I see that people have had complaints about their shipping, but so far I have never had a problem with them. The shipping has been prompt and I have got the products in very good shape.
The Price
The other big complaint seems to have been the price. At no point have Toys R Us prices matched that of K-Mart or Walmart. Toys R Us has always been more expensive, but people still go there. In the same manner, I think this website will have its customers who love the Toys R Us brand. They have a toy outlet section for people who prefer cheaper items, but the range is smaller as expected.
