National Library Week Write-Off 2008Feb 27 '08 (Updated May 01 '08) Write an essay on this topic. The Bottom Line Join the National Library Week Write-Off and appreciate all your library has to offer! What are you reminded of when you think about a library? Your first instinct is probably to say books, right? Right! But libraries are so much more: they have magazines, newspapers, movies, and CDs; they are information centers; they often have public computer access; they (hopefully!) have comfortable places to study or relax; they are a great place to meet a few friends or take your families; they have public classes and programs for people of all types; they have historical documents and items; they have almost anything anyone could ever want. Libraries conjure up so many different thoughts and memories for people and are a very important place. Don't you wish you could show your library a little love? April 13-19 is National Library Week (more info @ http://www.ala.org/ala/pio/natlibraryweek/nlw.htm). This is a great time to spend a little more time enjoying the benefits of your local library, and while you're there, be sure to let your favorite librarians know how much you appreciate them! In honor of National Library Week I am hosting the National Library Week Write-Off. The idea is simple: review something that you've borrowed from your library, be it a book, movie, magazine, etc. In your review, be sure to include a little snippet of information about your library. This can be a memory from your childhood, your experience picking the reviewed material, your favorite thing to do at your library, what your library is doing to participate in National Library Week... you get the idea. The rules are simple and generous, and surely you've borrowed something from your library so it should be easy! Feel free to submit as many entries as you want. The National Library Week Write-Off begins as of this posting, and ends at the end of April. To submit an entry you may leave a comment on this thread or email me a link to your review at lea_ander@yahoo.com. Please mention this write-off, and possibly a link to this announcement somewhere in your review. In a Nutshell... -Write about something you've borrowed from your library -Include a memory or experience about your (or any, really) library -Mention this write-off in your review -Send me a link to your review so I can include it on this list -Make as many submissions as you like (you've got two months!!) -Don't forget to let your favorite librarians know how much you appreciate them Enjoy! -Your loving librarian, Laurashrti :) ..........Submissions..........
