The Bottom Line Beware!!

There is a long and growing laundry list of problems, errors and just things that go wrong with the wonderful game console called Xbox 360. Even Wikipedia has a page dedicated to the impressive amount of the things that make us want to tear our hair out about. See here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360_technical_problems

Well, last night I was over my brother's house, where he wanted to show me a new game he downloaded called Rez. He turned it on, and his home page came up and he was scrolling through the different menus to get to the game. He found it and when he selected it, the screen faded to black, and then...nothing.

There was no error message code, there were no red colors on the power button, it was just a black screen. No explanation. He checked his wires, everything seemed ok there. He powered it off for a while and then turned it back on only to end up with this same black screen.

We called Tech Support on the phone at 1-800-4MY-XBOX. The woman on the phone was not aware of such a problem and she really didn't seem to care to learn. She just wanted to set him up with a repair ticket so that he could send it back to Microsoft and probably get a replacement.

My brother has two Xbox 360s in his room, so he put all the wires and set up on the other one he had. When he tried to show me the game on the other one, the same thing happened. He was about to cut his own throat but a tiny bit of sense came to him and he realized that it was virtually impossible to have two Xbox 360 consoles break down at the same time in the same way.

After fiddling some more, he came out of his room and stated that he had fixed the problem.

The Problem

He got the console to work instantly, when he removed his Microsoft HD-DVD add-on from the console. His brand new HD-DVD player (that he bought only two weeks before) had stopped working. For some unknown reason, this affected the A/V of the game console and only showed a black screen with no audio.

My brother also had two HD-DVD players. He bought an extra one when they went down so much in price, just in case his breaks. He hooked up the older HD-DVD player and everything worked out fine.

So for a couple of hours, my brother who had spent much money on his set up was filled with panic, terror and pure rage. We had searched the Xbox 360 forums, and even called the tech line, and there was no help to be found, no one had heard of this problem.
I knew that I had to write this epinion on the subject to warn any one who is having the same problem.

The Solution

You just need to simply disconnect the 'HD-DVD add-on' that you have connected to your Xbox 360. Your console will work perfectly now. Or throw it out all together and support Blu-Ray!
