Pros: None!
Cons: This machine rips and twist cloths. Doesn't rinse through. Major problem with the newtator.
The Bottom Line: This machine is very rough, destroying clothes. You can't wash large items. Soap is not rinsed out. You will NOT get any cooperation from Whirlpool on defects or solutions.

I purchased the Whirlpool Calypso Washer machine 8/12/01. I was told this is the best machine on the market. It was supposed to be gentle on your clothes. This machine is supposed to clean your clothes better then the old standard washer. All the advantages of a front loader but with the convenience of a top loader.
Well, boy did I have a rude awakening!!!! There is a major problem with the new style "Newtator". Clothes get pulled over this small nub of an agitator, and get stretched, pulled, and tugged on, as the cycle continues, eventually ripping holes in your clothes.
The computer panel is preprogrammed for certain operations to start at particular times. The "Whitest Whites" cycle releases the bleach at the end of the rinse cycle just as it is programed to. However, this leaves bleach in the clothes and causes yellowing.
As advertised, you are supposed to be able to wash large items such as a king size bed spread. I washed a queen size bed spread, that had never been washed before, it came out with a soap film on it. Many dark items really show the soap film since they are not rinsed properly.
This machine is louder then normal machines, however, it gets louder as time goes on and the more you use it.
I have had my machine for five months now. Four repair men have worked on it, and have yet to fix the problems. I have made dozens of phone calls to Whirlpool trying to get these problems solved. They continue to shuffle my case to someone else and I never get any satisfaction from them.
So in conclusion: Save your money, get a cheaper machine and be happy!
