| boardercms's Full Review: FIFA Soccer 2002 for PlayStation 2 |
The last Fifa game i owned was Fifa 2000 on PC. I did not get the chance to pick up 2001, but when i bought 2002, there was a signigicant difference from 2000. Well obviously since this is two years later, but still it is one of the best soccer games yet. The game is currently released on almost every possible platform, plus PC. This means there is no excuse for you not purchasing this game. Haha ok im was just joking, you wont buy a game that you dont know about. So let me Tell you. The Game includes every possible league, from the Australian K league, to the English A league. This game also includes the international level of competition. (If it didnt, it would lose at least 2 stars!haha) Anyway, There are several different modes of gameplay, one of the most well known and prestegious is that you can qualify and play the World Cup. For those of you who do not know, the World Cup is like the Olympics except only soccer. 64 international teams qualify from a series of games within their continent. The World cup is held in a different country every four years, with the exception of 2002 where it is held in Japan and Korea. Anyway with that background information done, there is more modes of gameplay. Besides the World Cup there are more tournaments you and your team can compete in. Such Tournaments vary from the European Championships to your very own custom tourney. Tournaments aren't the only thing you can make, you can create teams and players also. Thats right, i created myself, with all the player attributes at the maximum. I was a super player it was so weird watching me kill other teams...Darn i keep straying from the topic. OK! The Game has an aspect where you can unlock hidden tournaments or screenshots when you achieve certain things in the game such as qualify for the World Cup. This created an 'inner fire' in me to play more and more. One major difference between this game and Fifa 2000 for me was the specific graphics. in Fifa 2000, the teams' jerseys were not detailed at all in Fifa 2000. Italy was blue, Macnchester United was red, the emblems and designs were not portrayed on the uniforms. In Fifa 2002 each badge was accurately represented as well as each design. Even though this might not be a big deal to the average gamer, it really impresses me. Another difference between this game and Fifa 2000 is it's passing system, which i am told is new to the Fifa family. Tha passing system is sensitive. The longer you hold the pass button the longer and harder your pass will go, the same is for shots. All together this game deserves five stars for its impeccable performance in gaining my fullest respect and impression.
