"We Sing For The Public": A Little Chat With Juliette Galstian (An Interview)
by smorg | May 05 '08
There are many good lyric mezzo-soprani around, but Juliette Galstian is still one of Europe's best-kept secrets. Here's a glimpse at the candid artist.

Hiya Gary,
Thanks a bunch, bro! :o) I'm sorry I didn't catch her as Rinaldo this month, but she's got quite good reviews. Maybe she'll come sing in the USA one day! ;o)

Hope summer is going well your way!

Cheerio,

Thanks a bunch for stopping by and for your kind words, too! :o)

I'm feeling lucky indeed. It's really cool to sort of get a glimpse into what articulate artists like Mme. Galstian go through in their profession.

That must have been tough having to shelf Carmen in favor of Rinaldo indeed, Arashi. I'm guessing it was an offer she couldn't refuse... Sometimes these gals have contracts with opera houses that demand a number of engagements per year and the scheduling sometimes forces their hand.

And what bigger honors could I ever ask for than to be one of Don The Toolguy's favorites and to be christened The Interviewer by Don The MusicMan? That makes my day!! :o)

And it was a real treat to get this interview indeed, Carrie. :o)... So... when are you going to grant me a chat about what it takes to be the most addictive writing squid on the planet? I've better not see that interview popping up elsewhere first! ;o)

Thanks again, mates. Hope May is going smashingly well your way!

Ciao,
Smorgy :o)

Oh, what a fascinating interview and an amazing singer! Thanks!!

I'm too wondering how on earth she could sing soprano roles before with her really dark voice (esp. if she's been offered _Rinaldo_). And wow, a choice between Carmen and Rinaldo is tough indeed. :)
