Hello, friend. Thank you for taking the time to read my words. Do you ever feel like your life is just pressing in all around you? Like you're sinking in quicksand and there aren't any answers? The only hope you hang on to is a promise that the check is in the mail? As you stare at the computer screen, you feel a hollow, gut-wrenching feeling, wondering if you will ever be forgiven for your transgressions. I know I have felt this way at times. When you feel this way, you may wonder if there is really a place called heaven, but you have no doubt there is a place called hell. Whether you believe in such places or not, I am sure you believe there are times in your life when the shoes of heaven or hell fit perfectly. I have discovered something that really helped me overcome those times I'm feeling that hellish feeling. I would like to share my discovery with you. No, you don't have to change your religious or non-religious affiliation. The something I discovered is so powerful that it transcends any particular belief system. It has the power of the truth, a shining light so bright that it fills any dark abyss of lies, deceit and deception. What exactly is this something I speak of? Forgiveness. I forgive my enemies so that I will deserve forgiveness. Sure, I may not receive their forgiveness in return, but that is their loss, not mine. If my enemies don't forgive me, they will continue to suffer in the private hell they have created for themselves. When we forgive our enemies, we DESERVE forgiveness, and the knowledge of that simple truth is all we really need to get us to that mindset of heaven. Forgiveness does not have to mean that you must let your guard down if there is a genuine threat and you are dealing with people who simply can't be trusted. You need not give anyone with bad intentions or someone incompetent a second, third, fourth...chance to mess up your life again. Forgiveness can simply mean that you are not going to carry the baggage of hate on your back for the rest of your life every time someone steps on your toes. Forgiveness can be a ripcord you can pull to release all that painful baggage weighing down on your shoulders. And here is the best news of all: when you forgive others, you can forgive yourself. Welcome to heaven, my friend, come on in. The water is fine... |
