Get into the groove...this is the season when the cutting board better be within arms reach, in between cutting watermelons, cantaloupes and honey melons to chopping grilled ribs and hot peppers...a soggy wooden board or cheap dollar store one that bends in half will not do!
I have always had bad luck with cutting boards, I would buy ones that were too thin, ones that would not hold the juice once something was cut. Cutting boards that were wood but would seem to not dry properly after washing and giving the germophobe in me quite a scare at the though of possible bacteria. Ones that were awkward or in the way, nothing of quality no matter the price. But that was before I had my own personal Pampered Chef Representative, whom I met at a Pampered Chef party and made her kitchen beck and call girl!!
I wasn't really in the market to buy a cutting board, but when we had some hands on demonstrations, I was sold. Even though this groovy white board is made of plastic, it is high quality that is contamination-free. It is so easy to hold, it does not slip or slide when cutting something large (like a watermelon or whole chicken) and as you cut and everything spills out, the grooves that lace the sides of the board catch it until you can tilt it and clean it off properly, without the gross-out mess factor.
Because it is such good quality, it also differs from the average store brand cutting board in that it will not dull your knives, and you will see very little knife scratches or knicks in it, where I feel that bacteria can be trapped and limit the lifespan of the product. It is very lightweight, easy to hold and at 18" x 12" it makes it very easy to feel like a gourmet chef, or even a pampered chef, as you cut gorgeous and healthy foods for your family to savor.
