Grampa Abu went to Heaven

The Bottom Line Death should not be ALL tears, sadness, and emptiness. We use the phone to call Heaven.
My grandson was only 5 yrs. old, when Grandpa Abu died of Leukemia.
I had a phone that was not connected. I used this phone to call Heaven, and I asked Abu how he was doing. My grandson watched me, carefully. He had so much to say to Abu. I told him that anytime he wanted to tell Abu something, or to just chat for a while and to tell him what he'd been doing......the phone was right there.
Then, I placed a call to my mother on the same phone. We chatted about how she was going fishing, and she had her little dog running beside her. (You might guess, that I did a lot of that talking!). My grandson watched. He thought.
Next thing I knew, my grandson, Colton, was chatting up a
storm with Abu. He told Abu that my mother was going fishing, and, he'd like it, too! He TOLD Abu where to find my mom.
For about four months, Colton continued to call Abu, every day. As the months went along, Colton decided that Abu and my mom were having great times, fishing AND eating good stuff!
Colton still calls Abu, intermittantly, and he still calls my mom, as well. He told my mom all about himself, and what Eureka's like, today. (Our town in CA)
One day, he even called my mom to tell her that his big brother kept torturing him! I suggested he tell this grandma HOW he is being tortured. He told her all about how he hides from him, won't let him play all the games with him. Then, he added, his brother is a teenager. I though mama should know that part!
Colton called Abu to tell him when he got his first library card, last Winter. I'm not really sure that Abu and/or my mama will ever stop getting calls from Colton. That's o.k. with me. It has been his first way to deal with death, where everyone wasn't in tears!
I like happy talk.............and Colton knows the happy talk is making HIM happy.
I like our phone! Do you have one? You just never know when you might need one.
