The Bottom Line: Campbell's Bean with Bacon Soup is not for those who are on a low or no sodium diet. But I would recommend it to all others.

I admit it. I love Campbell's soups - All of them!
I use Campbell's Cream of Mushroom for a number of dishes. Makes a great baked steak or chicken dish. I what my Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup when I am not feeling well. Tomato Soup? I use it in place of tomato sauce in most of my cooking.
But, my very favorite is Campbell's Bean with Bacon. The natural smoke flavor makes this soup extra special. And it is so simple to prepare.
My brother and I were raised on Campbell's soups. My Mother, God love her, was not the best of cooks. She would just open the can and add water.
I like the soup, but I also like to add a little extra to mine.
My recipe for Campbell's Bean with Bacon Soup
One Serving:
Open one, 11 1/2 oz. can of Campbell's Bean with Bacon Soup. (You can use a manual can opener or if you prefer, an electric one), add 1/2 a can of hot tap water. (The directions on the can tell you to add 1 can of water - DON'T) Add 1/4 teaspoon of chili powder and salt and pepper to taste.
Put the soup in a medium size sauce pan and slowly add the hot water while stirring. Simmer on the stove, stirring often til the soup is hot. Do not bring the soup to a boil.
Serve with crackers and long horn or cheddar cheese. Mmmm, Mmmm, Good! The chili powder brings out the natural smoke flavor of the soup.
Cooking time? Less than 10 minutes.
A Quick Mexicali Dip:
(The recipe is on the back of the can and it is really good)
1 can Bean with Bacon Soup
1 1/4 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup salsa
In saucepan, combine soup, cheese and salsa. Over medium heat, heat through, stirring often. Serve with tortilla chips for dipping.
Makes about 2 cups.
