Pros:Unbelievable customer service, great speed and hardware. The very best deal available.
Cons:None unless you're really cheap... there are cheaper providers
The Bottom Line: Unless you're a serious cheapskate, there's no good reason to use anybody else. They're worth EVERY PENNY.

I've been a Rackspace dedicated server customer for about a year and a half, and I've been absolutely NUTS about them the entire time. I went up to their booth at a tech conference just to tell them how great they are. Call their 800 number and you won't hear a recording. I doubt they even have one. A real live person answers the phone, and quickly. If they need to transfer you to somebody else (which they generally do, since their objective is getting people on the phone quickly), the transfer happens quickly and goes to the right person. Their people are KNOWLEDGEABLE, which is not always the case with other companies.

The network access that my box has is incredibly fast, certainly fast enough to handle my web serving needs. I do everything on my box via SSH, and it responds as if it's in my lap.

The only time that I recall the site ever being down and it was their fault was a freakish problem that they were very responsive and upfront with me about. They followed up my call with an e-mail explaining all of the details of the problem. And even then, it was very early morning and the site was not down for very long. And, of course, they credited my account for the down time.

I also remember experiencing symptoms which suggested a bad CPU the first day I had the box. That worried me a little as a new customer, but I called them and told them about it, they knew exactly what I was talking about, and they called me back about 15 minutes later to let me know that the CPU had been replaced. I haven't had any hardware problems since then.

They can have any box set up in 24 hours, and they even have some preconfigured boxes that they can have up in one hour.

I recently found out that they had a price reduction, but had not automatically reduced prices for existing contracts. I picked up the phone and spoke with my sales guy, who had anticipated that customers would be calling and flat out fixed the problem. I now have an additional disk drive, more bandwidth, and I'm paying HALF what I paid before. Now that their prices are lower, there's just no reason at all to even consider anybody else.
