ITOEN Japanese Green Tea - 500 ml plastic bottle
Jul 20 '08
The Bottom Line Tired of overly sweet drinks which leave the aftertaste of artificial flavors in your mouth? Try ITOEN! Water, tea, and a little C!
OH BOY I like this stuff!
In an era where overly-sweet, artificially flavored, fake-sugar-laden drinks are the norm, ITOEN products stand alone.
Another hot, muggy day in Hawai`i. I went in to a local diner and ordered lunch. The drink cooler had row after row of bottles. I pointed to a colorful green one with graceful Japanese characters. Dripping with condensation, it was placed on my tray.
After sitting down and spreading out my meal, I read the ingredients: Purified water, green tea, vitamin C.
WOW! Stuff I can pronounce!
After one sip, I was hooked. Brisk and refreshing, with a clean aftertaste, it was just what the day needed.
The color, a green-tinged gold, was pleasant to look at. The fresh tea scent was mild and enjoyable. The flavor, as I said, was brisk and refreshing, with no bitter aftertaste. It did not hide or alter the taste of the tempura I was enjoying with it.
My only disappointment was that I had not bought two bottles, and I did not feel like standing in line again to get a second one.
But definitely, when I go out again, I will order more of the same, and I will look for it at the gas station mini-marts when traveling.
