Some Aren't Satisfied With Just Killing The Killers
by AinsleyJo | Aug 03 '08
If we have to have capital punishment at all, shouldn't it just be reserved for crimes where murder is involved? Doing otherwise might very well create a slippery-slope...

I'm afraid many of our fellow citizens have murderous and revengeful lust which they satisfy by having the State deal it out in their name. And now, they can watch the process in progress on Nancy Grace!

Compelling essay.

It would definitely be a scary society--and any resemblance to "Utopia" would be a false one!

It would be a society where nobody would be safe, because who's to say when YOU might be the one who would have the spotlight of disapproval shining on you one of these days!

What then!?!

Peace!

Hmm, the death penalty (Reply to this comment)

The death penalty is a tricky thing - one of the few social issues I don't know if I'm for or against. I will say that if some states continue to have the death penalty, it should absolutely be reserved for the most heinous of criminals - hardcore murderers and the like.

As for those who think non-murdering criminals should be allegeable for capital punishment, I say: Hell no! That, to me, would seem a tyrannical misuse of justice. Particularly, as you point out, for the drug-using demographics. Imagine putting heroin addicts to death because they were caught with their vices more than three times! What kind of sick world would that be? Yeah, let's just kill everyone who the majority finds undesirable, until we have a social utopia of law-abiding, straight-edge do-gooders.

What kind of person would espouse something so harsh and naive?
