A complete and utter disaster

I called and ordered a birthday arrangement for a friend living on the other side of the continent, to be delivered on the following day. I received NO order confirmation by email, only a survey on how I liked their service (so they obviously had a correct email address for me). The following day, when the arrangement was due to be delivered and I still had not received an order confirmation, I checked the status of the order online and was informed that "no such order exists". I called their customer service number and was told that all was well with the order and that it would be delivered on time. Shortly thereafter (28 hours after I placed the order), I finally received the order confirmation. Several hours after that, I received a thank you note from the recipient along with a photo of the arrangement that had just been delivered. It was half the size of the one pictured on the website, the attractive red glass vase had been replaced with a cheap, smaller, clear glass vase, and more than half of the arrangement consisted not of flowers but of greens. And four hours after delivery, I still had not received the delivery confirmation that had been promised to me earlier in the day.
I wrote to their customer service department expressing my dissatisfaction and the following day received an apology from 800FLOWERS, along with a promise from them (their idea, not mine) to send a replacement arrangement three days later. Three days later, no arrangement was delivered. Again I contacted customer service and demanded an explanation. They offered me a refund but absolutely NO explanation for why they had screwed up this order at every opportunity. Given their incompetence in every other phase of this order, I question (and frankly doubt) whether I will ever actually be credited with that money.
I will never trust them with an order again.
