I purchased netflix about a year or more ago and tried the on demand movies. I was dissappointed that the quality was sub-par on my pc. I ended up cancelling the Netflix account because I didn't watch enough new releases to justify the cost.
Fast forward to 9/1/2010:
I was tired of paying late fees at Blockbuster. Really tired of them. So, I said, "hey, I'll go with the lower plan at Netflix." When I looked at the plans, I figured I would try the on demand again since it offered on demand movies through my playstation.
I received the on demand disc and watched a movie through the Internet on my 42" tv. I was very surprised on how well the movie looked on that large of a screen. They definitely improved the Internet on demand quality 10 fold.
My girlfriend and I have watched about 15 on demand movies with the lowest priced option that included on demand. I think it is $8.99per month. In addition we get 1 cd at a time through the mail (which is fine for any new releases that come out). The new releases we order through the Netflix mail and if we want to watch a movie in the meantime, we use on demand. It is fantastic!
Note: The on demand movies are not perfect and when the camera scrolls with heavy graphic effects, it can be less than perfect. But, overall, the quality is good and easy on the eyes.
For us, $8 or $10 per month for 100's of on demand movies beats buying a cable channel and paying a $1 per day in late fees at Blockbuster.
I am now recommending the Netflix on demand to all my friends and family. No late fees, plenty of online movies to watch (updated often). Not only do they have newer movies on demand, they even offer older movies as well such as "Dirty Harry, 1971", The Sound of Music and such for those of you who like those older films.
There is something for every generation. Buy it! Try it! You will like it!
