| jijibug's Full Review: General Reviews of Verizon Customer Service |
My parents bought me a cell phone through Verizon Wireless last year in January. It has been a year and my contract is now expired.
First lets answer one simple question:
Was I happy with my service?
Answer: Sometimes.
The Plan
The plan I was signed up for was $39.95 a month for 250 daytime minutes and 2500 night and weekend minutes, and unlimited mobile to mobile minutes (mobile to mobile meaning anyone with verizon I can talk to for free). When I first started using my cell phone I would be using it during the day and would eventually run out of daytime minutes but have no idea that I have run out until I had a one hundred and fifty dollar phone bill in my mailbox.
I would be charged for going over my minutes, plus the "minutly" charge. Yikes.. It wasn't fun.
Eventually I stopped using my phone during the day. Although the few times I would use it during the day, I'd be at about 225 minutes.
With the 2500 night and weekend minutes, I never went over my time. I would talk casually to my friends and family and even let other people call places, and still never went over. So eventually after learning some lessons, my bill became lower. But it was still never exactly $39.95.
The unlimited mobile to mobile came in very handy. Quite a few of my friends signed up for Verizon and I was able to talk to them as long as I wanted and it didn't reflect on my bill.
The Phone
When I got signed up to Verizon, the free phone they were offering was this ugly motorola (Motorola Talkabout) with this ugly antenna. You have to pull the antenna up to even attempt to talk to anyone while indoors.
After about 6 months the antenna wouldn't stay up on its own so I had to hold it up. Which sucked. But I lived with it.
Now they are offering an Ericcson phone... which is the ugliest phone I have ever seen in my life!
This is one of the reasons Verizon will not be my new cellular phone service. Their free phones suck. To put is simply.
The Ericcson phone is completely square, bulky but flat, and just plain discusting. I don't know where they get their phones, but I don't even want it and it's free.
Customer Service
My dad and I went into a Verizon store last week to renew my account in my name only and to see if they had the Nokia 3360s that I like.
The line was about a mile long, and there was a lady taking our names down. We waited in line for about fifteen minutes when she finally said "You can go look around while you wait."
So I went directly to the phone section to check out how I want to upgrade my phone. The only free one, as I mentioned before, was that ugly Ericcson phone.
The only Nokia they had was the old big bulky ones, the 5165. Absolutly no selection and the prices of all the other phones ranged from $19.99 to $200.
But I guess that's the way they "rob" you.
So from now on, I am going to sign up for what all my other friends are signed up for and that's AT&T Wireless. I've yet to hear any complaints. But I haven't read any epinions yet. So this may be a temporary decision. All I know for sure is, I'm not going back with Verizon.
But, that doesn't mean you don't have to. If you want an ugly phone, no phone selection, hardly any minutes, and adequate customer service... be my guest. Sign up with Verizon Wireless. If that's the kind of cellular service you like...
