The Bottom Line What the hell...why not one more year?
Yeah, it's that time of year again...ok, fine, I'm horribly late in trying to put this together this year, but I just can't sit back and watch the thing die. This is my baby and I like to think it's still enjoyed.
I'd like to invite you all to the eighth annual "I'll Show You Mine If
You'll Show Me Yours" write-off. The concept of the write off is
simple: writers are paired off randomly (read: names picked out of a
hat). Each selects a CD for their partner to review. The catch is
that said CD should be something they normally wouldn't review/listen
to. So for example, an Iron Maiden fan might find himself reviewing
an R&B album, while a pop fan might end up with a jazz record.
Since putting this write-off together (giving time for responses,
pairing up, picking CDs, getting CDs, reviewing CDs) takes some time,
you should all know that I'm aiming for the beginning of November or so
for submissions, though I'm open to suggestions as well.
How you get the CD is completely up to you: you can buy it, download
it, accept a burned copy from your partner, bittorrent, whatever. Half.com has
been a popular route in the past.
I've gotten good feedback about this write-off in previous years, and
plenty of people seem to like doing it (hence this being year #8). If

One last thing: PLEASE, PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE, if you don't think you have time for this, don't sign up. I had to leave a couple of people without partners last year because their partners dropped out, and I already had 2 reviews to do. It sucks to have to do that, so please, don't get in if you can't follow through. If you need to be late or early, that's fine. But dropping off the face of the earth isn't cool, and it can ruin an experience for someone who is doing this for the first time.
I'll do the pairings in the next 1-2 weeks. I hope to hear from most,
if not all of you, be you regulars to this write off, or newcomers.
