Comfort
Comfort is an important factor for being able to play good. Where comfort comes in is how it fits...you want the soccer cleats to fit slightly snug/slightly loose so you do not get rubbed raw or get blisters from too much pressure from being too tight or too loose. Another thing that allows for greater comfort is for the sole of the shoe to be flexible.
Durability
Durability is another important factor since you do not want to be in the middle of playing a game and have the cleat fall apart on you. Adidas has been the most durable brand for me so far, but Nike and Puma are also very good brands. And to get the most out of the durability out of the soccer cleats you should clean them after every use.
Regulations
Generally with young kid soccer or school soccer playing in spiked cleats is prohibited for safety reasons and this is the first thing you need to know before buying soccer cleats.
Molded or Spikes
Molded soccer cleats are by far the best from my experience but you want the studs to be able to give a little to help provide comfort and agility.
Personally I have found spiked soccer cleats to be useless unless you are playing on Astroturf.

The best place to shop is at sports store since the cleats vary in how they fit, but if your feet have not grown any then you could possibly save money by buying soccer cleats out of Eastbay Catalog or visiting their website and look for the same model as previously purchased.
