Re: I'm optimistic (Reply to this comment)

Well, I hope so. We know where we're going of the future is worse than Bush. As I suggested to Vic, the Republic may have a chance to turn upward, guided by Obama. If not, we're really in the soup!
ME AND ORSON presents something of a mystery. The picture got everyone over at wellesnet.org excited, and then, it all just died. [The same could be said for anticipation of a Warner DVD release of THE MAGNIFICENT AMBERSONS or JOURNEY INTO FEAR this year, or the long promised completion of Welles epic, THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WIND, by Peter Bogdanovich and Frank Marshall, or an American theatrical run for Oliver Parker's FADE TO BLACK (with Danny Huston as Welles).
The problem with ME AND ORSON seems to be that, when it was shown in Toronto, more was expected from the director, Richard Linklater, and Zac Efron was underwhelming or at least unexpected to his fans as "Me" (based on a real character), while Christian McKay stole the show as Orson Welles, all of which combined to create a multifaceted disconnect so far as getting the film a distributor.
I don't see even any notice of the picture even coming out on DVD, anytime soon.
Let's hope that the Little Green Men from Mars will do better than Americans or the wellesnetters in the immediate future years!
Thank you, Jan, for your kind remarks.

America turned a corner towards good when they soundly elected Obama. It's going to be such an intelligent admin that the Democrats will hold power for a long time. Really touching essay. I wanted to watch a movie called Me and Orson Welles, but not on DVD yet, I guess. Peace.

Thanks, Vic.
I hope you are wrong.
With a little luck, Barack Obama will be elected today. With a good deal more luck, he won't be assassinated or forced to sell out. He may prove he knows what he is doing.
If so, we may go to Mars with intelligence, not simply weapons and drills.
In any case, I sincerely hope that our days of advertently [sic] or inadvertently slaughtering innocent civilians in far places will be brought to an end.
Thank you for your always tough wisdom, Vic.

Touching epitaph for America... (Reply to this comment)

I cannot look far back that long...but it must be indeed stunning to contemplate the transition. On a good note, a bankrupt country won't be able to "screw" Mars and may have to limit itself to throwing a few missiles at Syrian or Pakistani women and children, just the last murderous convulsions of an insane regime.
Our friends on the red plant are safe for a few more decades.
Peace
