When will they listen to the people?

Dec 06 '08

The Bottom Line When is the government going to listen to the people?

I am so frustrated.  I needed a place to come to say what I am thinking and hope that maybe someone will listen.

When is the government going to wake up and realize that we need a bailout?  Not corporate america but CONSUMER AMERICA needs a bailout!  I know all the arguments about giving some of this stimulus package right to the hands of the people who spend money.  I know, people tell me, prices would sky rocket and Americans would spend so fast they would still be in trouble.  So think about it more!

Here are some ideas:

1.  Give every American taxpayer a specific amount. (considering that there are 250 million people it seems like 700 billion could be shared quite well with money left over)
2.  To get this money taxpayers will need to go and sit with a credit counselor, who will help them to pay off all debt. (I assume that by paying off our debts this will help the companies we owe money to!  It will also leave us with no debt and we will be able to then begin spending again, which would give jobs!)  I don't know about you but if my debts were gone, and I continued with my current income I would be able to have a lot more money every month to spend.  I could work on my house which would mean I would probably hire contractors which would create jobs!
3.  The government could create sanctions to ensure that prices are not raised for everything from soup to nuts.  Price freezes to companies and oil tycoons would ensure that the money going to bail out consumers would enable us to continue consuming!

Our current president handed out stimulus checks. Everyone talked about it.  But, it came when oil prices were so high that my stimulus check went to the oil company so I could heat my home.  That helped NO ONE.  Companies are going out of business, people are losing their homes, its disgusting to think that auto companies can get bailed out, but the people cannot.

I don't know about you, but I am sick of this.

Obama wants to give money to schools.  That folks is not going to help either! Twenty-first century schools are necessary. But we first need 21st century homes!  We need families to feel secure and safe, not worried all the time about money.  The bailout needs to go to the parents that are working two jobs.  The parents that are more concerned, as they should be, about feeding their kids than about homework!  Families are tired!

Every parent in the world, even bad ones, want good things for their kids.  Every parent!  But parents who are working two jobs to make ends meet and losing their homes anyway are not able to think about education.  Obama wants to work on education?  Education begins with early intervention and early intervention begins at home with parents.
