where's my winter? (Reply to this comment)
by smorg
I wish we can pool our winter weather and then average it, Beckish! :o) We've been having this heatwave for nearly 10 days now where the high temperature has been in the 80's (at the waterfront, hotter inland)... and not a drop of rain. :o( I have a sinking feeling that we'll be rationing our water this coming summer if it doesn't change soon. Strange weather!!

Hope snow has let up your way, though, and hope 2009 is going well!

Cheers,
Smorgy :o)

We in the Portland,OR area got 15 to 20 inches. We normally get a few inches and then gone. This time it lasted a good 2 weeks.

The last time I wish for a White Christmas...

Take care,

Still Warm Here in Richmond (Reply to this comment)
by krus54
The warmer weather continues here around the Richmond Virginia area. We've had (with a couple of exceptions) a very warm start to the winter--temps near or above 70 yesterday, only a few days before New Year's. I look forward to the cooler winter weather. I don't like the snow, ice, and single-digit temps, but 30's to 40's as highs are something I look forward to after the hot and humid springs and summers around here.

The positive spin on the warmer temperatures are the savings in heating costs!

My kids were all born here in Richmond but they spent most of their first several years growing up in the Orlando area. When we moved back here a few years ago they were looking forward to snow (and snow days from school). So far they've seen less than three inches of snow for the three winters they've spent back in Richmond!

In Beaver Creek where we are it fell 150 inch of snow during the last two weeks. In northern Sweden the winter is also coming on strong.

....that after the rough winter last year, that this year would be a mild one. Darn.

In Wisconswin, We haven't gotten as much as you have, but have shoveled and used the snowblower (when we can get it to work) and shoveled some more. I keep reminding myself of what good cardio it is. lol

Hang in there....and I hope you have a wonderful New Year...with lots of sunshine!....kath

Over in the Puget Sound, we were completely unprepared for the snow beating we got. I hope things warm up soon for you.

I can relate! (Reply to this comment)

Here in northeast Ohio, we get our share of snow (and lake effect snow from Lake Erie). It can be downright terrifying to drive on the icy roads. This year there is a shortage of road salt, so they aren't out treating the roads with salt like they normally are. I have a 54 mile commute each way, so I know what you are talking about. Hang in there and pray for an early spring! Thanks for sharing; I didn't know you guys were getting hit so hard.

Becky,

Are you saying you guys have snow? :)

Our temps (in TN) were around 70 degrees today but we're gonna get down in the 50's tomorrow. We've had more than our fair share of rain for the past couple of weeks but after reading about all the snow you've had, I think I'll quit complaining.

(I've grumbled about the rain because I'm moving)
