"Yours truly certainly couldn't back then, and if a kid of mine said they wanted to go, I'd say, "if you can afford to go, then you'd better pay tuition yourself next semester."
HA!
You don't fool me, Regina! I know perfectly well that 1) you don't have kids, and 2) you're a softie at heart and would let the kid do what he wanted if he pushed the right buttons...
So would I.

but how can a college student afford to go to these locations?
Yours truly certainly couldn't back then, and if a kid of mine said they wanted to go, I'd say, "if you can afford to go, then you'd better pay tuition yourself next semester."
A fine list, however!

Great review (Reply to this comment)

Terrific review, Mark. Only thing I disagree with (and I guess it's due to our probable difference in age) is your feelings about the age of drinking.
I was quite the partier in school and that was at the time before the drinking age went to 21. I can tell you from experience that I was definitely not mature enough, nor were most of the college kids I knew, to handle the alcohol at 18 or 19, or 20. When I think how I didn't even think twice about driving or the consequences to some of the actions I did when I was that age and drinking, I'm lucky I wasn't killed (driving) or locked up. :-) My opinion is that for the vast number of college kids heading out for spring break, a hefty percentage are not responsible drinkers.
I think for a lot of kids it takes some years before the maturity kicks in. Anyway, just my 2 cents.

so any of these places would suit me! No drinking, though, as it makes me sick. :(
Cheers anyway!

Spring Break (Reply to this comment)

...and then there's always the Redneck Riviera of the North Florida and South Alabama gulf coast for those on a budget. There are some great deals out there for this area and the beaches rival any in the Caribbean. Sheila

No real mystery to it. I walked up and down Ocean Drive, had a great dinner at Casablanca, and ended up the night with a couple of the best mojitos I've ever enjoyed. So sorry you weren't able to join me...perhaps next time. (Loved the Chesterfield, BTW.)
Thanks for the comment!

I was surprised you included Miami Beach though it is a terrific spot on the map but pricey...guess you had a good but short visit...Looking forward to that hotel review and to read what you ended up doing that night...:)
