THE LOST ART OF DECENT FILMMAKING--THE BEST FILMS OF 2008

Was it the writer's strike? Whatever the reasons, 2008 was a positively awful year for Hollywood. Here are my favorites from this creatively dismal, mercifully over year.

John:

You should be watching the Oscars! Anyways, thanks for taking the time and respond. I was very surprised not only by how much I liked Gran Torino, but how it was completely snubbed at this year's Oscars.

When you get a chance, compile your own list of the best of this year. I'll freely admit Streep and Rourke were extraordinary, but Kate goes beyond acting and Sean Penn simply disappears as Harvey Milk.

Peace!

for Indies and Foreign Films. I would go with Slumdog for Best Picture, Meryl Streep for Best Actress and Mickey Rourke for Best Actor.

I'm glad to see Gran Torino made your Top Ten...it was probably second only to Dark Knight for Hollywood flicks.

It's Rosemarie Dewitt. Not Rosemarie Harris.
