A list of Yakkowarner's coffee bean reviews in order of preference.

Feb 22 '09 (Updated Sep 15 '09)

The Bottom Line A requested list of my coffee reviews in order of preference.

These are my coffee's that I have reviewed (or are awaiting to be added to the database). I tried to list them in order of preference but keep in mind that I am not doing side by side tastings so they may be off. So consider this a rough guide of what to look for and read the actual review to get an idea of my perceptions at the time of tasting.
Palates change from person to person so I certainly do not expect everyone to agree with me, but I certainly hope this help give you a starting point of where to look.
Feel free to leave comments of brews you think I should try and put on this list. I am always open to suggestions.

Caribou Coffee Guatemala El Socorro
Stars: 5
Bottomline: An incredibly light coffee with wonderful notes of caramel. Absolutely wonderful, just don't add anything into it.

Gevalia Columbia whole bean coffee
stars: 4
Bottomline: A mild coffee with a mild floral note. Typical of the columbian coffee I have tried. Nothing bad with this one.

Caribou coffee Colombia Timana
Stars: 4
Bottomline: A good Columbian coffee that is neck and neck with Gevalia's Columbian. It just lacks some uniqueness.

Zabars Columbia Blend Coffee
stars: 4
Bottomline: A good cup of coffee just nothing surprising. I find this to be a typical and good cup for Columbian coffee beans. It is neck and neck with the Gevalia version.

Caribou Coffee Obsidian
Stars: 4
Bottomline: A good dark roasted coffee. I was very pleased with it.

Gevalia Café Sperl
Stars: 4
Bottomline: A very well done coffee, just nothing out of this world.

Caribou coffee Perennial blend
Stars: 4
Bottomline: A great warm tasting coffee that I recommend.

Gevalia Signature Blend
Stars: 4
Bottomline: A nicely balanced blend.

Trader Joes 100% Kona Coffee: One of the better Kona Coffee’s out there
Stars: 4
Bottomline: A good and smooth coffee but I was wishing for some more balanced character for the price I paid. Not worth the price in my opinion. But if you like good yet boring, and have the money for it then I’d say go for it.

Gevalia traditional roast
Stars: 4
Bottomline: A simple yet balanced brew.

Caribou Coffee Mocha Java Blend
Stars: 4
Bottomline: A nice little gem from Caribou, not perfect but something I'll buy again.

Caribou Coffee Guatemala el Paraiso
Stars: 4
Bottomline: A unique and pleasing coffee, but nothing to die for. 4/5 ain’t bad.

World Market Kauai Peaberry Roast
stars: 4
Bottomline: A good bean for those that want a good cup that doesn’t over power the taste buds.

Zabars blend coffee
stars: 3
Bottomline:One of Zabars better and more complex blends; and quality vs. price ratio is very good

Caribou Coffee Kenya
Stars: 3
Bottomline: A good middle of the road coffee

Gevalia Rainforest Organic Select Varietal Coffee
Stars: 3
Bottomline: A good coffee worth trying but just not Great.

Gevalia Costa Rica Peaberry
stars: 3
Bottomline: A good coffee with a bit of earthyness and chocolate flavor to it. Not over whelming for a coffee drinker. Not the best but a good choice if you are looking for variety.

Gevalia French Roast
stars: 3
Bottomline: If you like your coffee strong and robust, then this is the coffee for you. Nothing wrong with it, no bad after taste. A great bean roasted well but not too much. If you do not like bitterness then stay away. If you like mud for coffee, give this a spin because it will probably change your perspective of how dark coffee should be.

Gevalia Mocca Java
stars: 3
Bottomline: For Gevalia coffee, it is pretty pedestian. There is nothing wrong with this cup (typical of Gevalia), it is perfect in the sense of it being coffee. But it lacks complexity and character.

Starbucks Colombian Narino Supremo
Stars: 3
Bottomline:An acceptable colombian coffee if you don't have any other options.

World Market Sumatra Medium Roast
stars: 3
Bottomline: An average coffee for the average drinker.

Zabars continental blend coffee
stars: 3
Bottomline: No real character to it, just a good cup of coffee..

Starbucks Coffee Kenya
stars: 3
Bottomline: A descent coffee for someone that likes a more earthy roast. It has a pleasant, yet bold taste. As far as complexity and character are concerned, it has none.

Gevalia Antigua Coffee
Stars: 3
Bottomline: A good coffee that is better when pair with food or someone that really likes acidic coffee's.

Caribou Coffee Daybreak Morning Blend
Stars: 3
Bottomline: A good coffee, just nothing unique or life altering.

Trader Joe's Moka Java Coffee
Stars: 3
Bottomline: Just an average coffee.

Zabars French Vanilla Decaf Coffee
stars: 3
Bottomline: An average flavored coffee that is perfect for everyday drinking.

Java Delight French Vanilla Decaf
Stars: 3
Bottomline: A descent decaf coffee you can get from your local Albertsons

Caribou Coffee Fireside Blend
Stars: 3
Bottomline: Just an average coffee

Caribou Coffee Acacia Organic blend
Stars: 3
Bottomline: A coffee with potential but not something I will buy again. If you love berry flavors in your coffee then give it a try.

Gevalia Peruvian Organic Coffee
Stars: 2
Bottomline: Had the potential to be great, just did not like the bitter aftertaste.

Trader Joes Columbia supremo
Stars: 2
Bottomline: A below average coffee bean

<a>Caribou Coffee French Roast
Stars: 2
Bottomline: Too highly roasted and missing key flavors.

Starbucks Breakfast Blend
Stars: 2
Bottomline: Just a below average coffee

World Market Italian Roast
stars: 2
Bottomline: A below average bean.

Trader Joe's Fair Trade Organic Sumatra coffee
Stars: 2
Bottomline: Below average and boring earthy coffee

Gevalia Stockholm Roast Coffee
Stars: 2
Bottomline: I don't like olives in my coffee

Starbucks Coffee House Blend
stars: 2
Bottomline: An average and boring coffee.

Gevalia Mocha ground coffee
Stars: 1
Bottomline: Nothing pleasing here, just move along. I just hope it doesn't hurt my compost pile.
