My Top 10 Things I Hate.
Feb 22 '09
The Bottom Line Just my little rant. Hope I didn't offend anyone.
After reading what people had written about the top 10 things they hate started by Lyoness, I really thought I couldn't do this. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get past the snow issue. But once I thought more about it, I think I can come up with 10 things that really tick me off.
1) The idiots in government that have gotten us in the position that we are in right now. Let's just give more money to huge companies for their CEO's to get bigger bonuses and more vacations. Stimulus package my a$$! From what I have seen we can all expect another $13.00 per week added to our paychecks. HELLO! If you are out of work and not getting a paycheck there goes your stimulus down the drain. How about helping out people that have no health care, are in danger of losing their homes or who are wondering how to feed their families and keeping them warm?
2) FEMA! Hubby has been doing storm clean up for years. FEMA is a joke and it isn't getting any better. They apparently have not learned from their mistakes with Katrina. The major ice storm in Oklahoma, Tennessee and Kentucky happened a month ago. As of last week they are still taking bids trying to get the cheapest workers possible. Again, HELLO these people needed help immediately, why wait a month to get the best deal. You can give the big car companies money to bail themselves out, but what about the citizens that have had no power, holes in their houses, and other damage?
3) The War!! First let me say I have no problem with the men and women in the Armed Forces doing what is asked of them. PERIOD!! But I really think the government needs to rethink the money we are spending daily there. Could we please take care of our own people first?? There are just too many issues here right now to be spending billions of dollars in a country that really doesn't seem to want to help them-selves. Let's put that money back here to help out people that have lost jobs and healthcare.
4) The price of diesel fuel. It does not cost as much to make diesel as it does gasoline. So why is it still so expensive? Several years ago everyone was going with diesel engines for their vehicles since it was cheaper to fuel them up. Not anymore! People wonder why the cost of our food and other necessities is going up. It is because the truck drivers or their companies are paying so much more for fuel. Not to mention since 9-11 the price of load insurance is much more than it used to be. If you don't know about load insurance, every truck driver has to carry insurance on the load they are carrying. Right after 9-11 the Hubby's uncle's insurance company canceled all load insurance policies. While searching for new insurance he found out he could no longer afford load insurance on his 6 trucks. He had to sell most of them and rent the remainder out to other companies. There goes another small business down the drain.
5) Utility companies that have a monopoly in my area. Years ago I remember getting a letter in the mail that we would get to choose new utility companies. YEAH RIGHT!! I have never had the option to change any company. They even have been sold and I am stuck with the company chosen. I am still contacting Verizon about DSL, which I have been continuously told it is not available in my area, which is a total lie. They just only had so many phone lines available and all have been taken. We are seriously thinking about putting in a windmill and charging the electric company for what they would be making from us. I am also going to start billing the phone company for wasting time while dial-up is loading if ever. Don't know if it will work or not, but it will make me feel better.
6) Idiots that have moved into my neighborhood to get HUD housing, that are cheating the government and have bad kids. A trailer in my neighborhood was rented out and the renter has a boyfriend living with her, that is not allowed. The kids have also been caught stealing things from other neighbors and I am pretty sure one has my daughter's IPOD which was taken from her on the bus. These kids do nothing but cause trouble between kids in the neighborhood and on the bus. I have contacted the school several times about this problem, but nothing has been done other than they put a helper on the bus the next day and of course nothing will happen then. For crying out loud they tape our kids on the bus every day and they can't see what is going on? Of course I won't even get started on the people that they let drive bus's here. That would be a whole other rant.
7) This one is for my son who has been looking for a job since November. If you do not have a job opening, do not have an applicant drive 40 miles to do some paperwork or take a test if you do not or expect to have an opening!!! My son lost his job in November and has been on-line daily filling out applications and goes out once a week to check up on what he has applied for. You would not believe how many times he has had a call back only to find out after he has put gas in his vehicle (using money that he really doesn't have) only to find out that there were no openings. If you have an appointment set up, just call and say the job is now filled!! Don't let the job applicant waste his gas because you were too lazy to make a phone call!!!
8) People that work at the Welfare office need to be a bit more pleasant to people, especially since times are really tough. Hubby lost his job several days before his insurance would have kicked in and I was concerned that my daughter needed to go to the dentist and have a physical. We went to the Welfare office to apply for a medical card for her. Talk about rude. The lady at the front desk acted like we were bothering her. Trust me just because people are out of work and the weather is bad does not mean they are lazy and can't support their families. The attitude almost makes me wish I wouldn't have bothered. Damn it, Hubby and I work hard when the weather is good, this winter has been tough. And if we need a bit of help for a month or two, don't make us feel like we are worthless because we want to make sure our daughter can have some type of benefits.
9) This whole HDTV thing. Okay we spent the money to get the box (yes we did have a coupon) but it also involved experimenting with many antennas to get 2 of the 3 local channels that have gone digital. The 3rd went digital last week and is still not up to full power. Bingo channel gone and isn't going to be available until they do so, which means no CSI's which I watch regularly. Hubby called a hot line when they switched over and we aren't the only ones having the problem. Bye, bye advertising for that channel since if you don't have cable or satellite you aren't going to find them. Big mistake in my book.
10) I actually got through this without mentioning the snow yet, but here it comes. The snow plow drivers that feel the need to come down over the hill next to my house and leave all that snow at the end of my driveway. Couldn't you go another 10-feet before you lift the plow and move on? Do you realize that once it starts to melt it leaves a huge ice build up at the end of my driveway?? Granted we do have 4-wheel drive, but not everyone that comes to visit me does. That 3-foot ice mess at the end of my driveway would be the end to most everything other than a ¾-ton 4-wheel drive. Some of those trips in may not even be so pleasant. I have to unbuckle my seatbelt to even attempt the driveway because I know how big that bump is and what my neck and shoulder are going to feel like!! You get paid by my tax dollars (which are numerous may I add), just push the snow past my driveway and not leave it in the end!!
I hope I did not offend anyone by my rant, but these are the things that really tick me off.
I actually didn't even get to the idiots making Meth in my neighborhood or people that put my friends down that have a different sexual orientation. Once I think about it now, snow was just a minor complaint; I probably could have done 20 here with no problem.
If I have left anyone out that joined in please let me know.
