Their are many ways to give something of yourself to help others. For woodworkers in the Vancouver, Washington area, Friends of the Carpenter is a wonderful way to give.

I looked at their web site, and they do seem to support some worthwhile projects. I'm troubled though that their Financials page does not list overhead, executive expenses, marketing expenses, or useful comparison stats like percentage of funds spent on programs.

The BBB Charity Reports site also doesn't list them.

Do you know whether this organization is fiscally responsible and how much of their money actually does charitable work??

There have been quite a few cases in recent years of charities hiding embarrasingly low efficiency stats. It would be a shame to support an organization that's not doing a good job and/or hiding something.
