Concerns Of Police Survivors (COPS) - Give Some To Those Who Gave ALL.
by coldsteel7 | Mar 06 '09
COPS provides peer support to survivors of officers killed in the line of duty.  We should support them supporting families who have given their loved one in our defense.

And, I'm sorry to read about your losses and just how personal it is for you.

I don't envy Epinions having to decide upon just three charities!

Thanks,
Megan

...I pray every day I never need these people. But the service they provide is vital, and they do good works. Excellent review. Can we turn in the charity pieces from March for the April Promotion?

This is a great organization.

As the mother of a police officer (Sgt) and mother-in-law of a police LT in dispatch (who has dealt with "out of their mind" law breakers), the fear of losing your child due to violence, is like living with a vise around your heart daily.

I'm truly sorry to hear about your friend(s).

The chapters appear to be 100 percent. There may be administrative overhead on the National level, but the local chapters give every penny to the survivors.

I don't know the percentages, but agree with you on that issue. When I donate through CFC, I always consider the overhead...if it's not hitting in the 90 percentile range (of money going to those in need) I don't donate. Much of the manpower is volunteer, so I would imagine the percentages are favorable.

Would you happen to know how much of the money they receive actually gets into the hands of police officers' dependents??

I wouldn't mind donating to a cause like this, but not if the money is soaked up by "administrative overhead".

See ya!
