Hi, Alex ~
Thank you for the comment. Ms Deutsch is doing her part to encourage more people, especially kids, especially, to get involved in classical music via a popularly visited and fun 'Kids Page' on her website. She's hugely talented as both a performer, musician as well as a pedagogue (to which I can personally bear witness, too), with wit, charm and humour aplenty!
Yup, bleak times are upon us, and the excesses of the past few decades could not last. Hope it won't be such an extended recession/depression, but we'll just have to wait and see.
Ciao,
T.

Sounds as if you have a wonderful regional orchestra there.
And I agree, we need organizations of this kind all over the country. We are going into a very bleak time, as we did in the 1930's, but that era fostered, often through Federal Arts Projects, some of the most extraordinary artistic talent ever seen in America. In fact, the period did much to introduce the World to a truer America, not just the Yankee Trader, the Western Cowboy, or the ignorant Yahoo of stereotype.
People tend to become serious about Art, and they produce serious Art, when they are up against it.
