Gus to me is the best living American director out there. He's way better than Spielberg, better than Scorsese, better than practically everyone right now. He'll take something conventional like Milk and do something unique and find a realistic yet mesmerizing story in something as unconventional as Paranoid Park.
I highly anticipate in whatever he does next.

for Gus van Sant. I haven't seen Paranoid Park yet. I'll have to see where it's at in my Netflix list. There are about 4 or 5 on your list that I still have to see, and a few more before I rework my early 2008 list.
