You always knew just what to say
When my heart was breaking
You knew the words and the way
I felt when life disappointed
You knew my deepest worries
And my wildest dreams
You knew when I was discouraged
And when I had succeeded
You understood my pain
And accepted me as I am
Even when I wasn't so great
You allowed me to be myself
You knew my sensitivities
And helped me to heal when I hurt
You saw through my defenses
And listened when I needed a friend
