TWO SCREWTERS almost destroyed my desire to travelscoot !

The Bottom Line DO you dear reader have a special place here in Israel that you want to visit ?
YES, time marches on, and where have all the kms gone ??
I'm on my 9th scooter NOW..and "back to the best" !.. I said.. and say again.
Screw-ups #7 and #8 had so much promise I thought they would be the ultimate love affairs..NOT to be ..and I sure did try..and I land up hating those two scooters and those concerned in the business and workshop. At first I highly respected and liked the people in the dealership and was convinced I was doing good clever things.
So #7, being a newly introduced 50cc to Israel, I grabbed the opportunity, and after losing a great deal of money I took delivery and planned quickly to run it in.. have the first service and get scootering. YES it did in fact need several modifications to allow it to carry me even up the very slightest incline..never mind a hill of any length. So after those changes I went on a 2 nite away trip..it did behave nicely on the way down to the Sea of Galilee..and I had a slow ride wherever I went, and felt sort of okay. I needed to make many detours while riding in hilly Tiberias and found my way around okay..considering every new street for me is a good find !
The journey home was pathetic as many long slight uphills are on the return journey and certainly this underpowered motor could never handle, but being patient I took my time and I eventually made it home..probably 2 hours longer than all previous scoots on the same return trip to Netanya.
The immediate decision was to trade in and buy the 90cc of the same make..which with all the information given to me, sounded like the ultimate good deal ? So I went ahead, again losing a fair amount of money, and soon was riding my new 90cc....#8.
YES the first 2 niter away at the DEAD Sea was a pretty enjoyable trip..and when on return journey home..it flattened out any hills, and seemed that will be the ultimate. EXCEPT that was the ONLY trip that scooter allowed..?
EVERY planned trip after that time was aborted, as this 90cc turned into a total waste and needed many visits to the workshop for "OH so many" faults that would never be found and attended.
MANY days I would sit and wait several hours and although they worked on it..they never got it right.. SUDDENLY the 1 year guarantee was over..and the management reneged on all the excellent arrangements we had made..ORIGINALLY I TOOK THEIR WORD and trusted them completely.
Towards the end, with many repairs and rusty parts needing attention..(having travelled LESS than 8500 kms)..( bear in mind, less than 1 year old and parked in covered basement away from rain and wind). Very quickly that trust died ..and after several unhappy visits and paid for repairs and replacements..and not cheap as I originally was led to believe ! I was becoming seriously depressed with every conversation and every visit to the workshop.
I then changed back to KYMCO.. the same name that I had on 3 earlier occasions..only this time on a smaller body with smaller wheels and NO offroad tyres..
HOWEVER..I have now owned the KYMCO 50cc DJR for more than 6 months (done 3700kms of local scooting), and bought at the beginning of the rain season, so have not done any nites away from home.
I have NOT HAD ONE SECOND OF PROBLEMS..and quickly the depression vanished...(also did my money vanish..NO PERSON wanted to buy the 90cc and eventually I let it go for a pittance..losing a few thousand shekels)..BUT with NO depression in me I FEEL GREAT..
and soon will begin travels and scootering again..as the rain season is almost at an end. It is lightweight and low and both these factors are perfect for me. It has pretty much the same storage space under the saddle and a neat lightweight rack to tie some "travel stuff" on..and a neat cubbyhole as well.
For me I say its good value at a good low price.. fancy frills dont mean anything to me.
I will not name the scrap crap 2 pieces of junk..and any reader wanting to know from me ..please email me.. and I'll gladly pass my experiences on to you.
Do any readers have a favourite place here in Israel that you have already visited...or plan to visit some time ? TELL me about the place and I will try to visit ..(if I have not already been there.)
I feel happy that no one incident will upset-my-applecart, to cause me to want to stop traveling and scootering. The coincidence is that at this time of writing I have scooted 54,000kms on 4 different KYMCO...50 cc.
and in the 9 1/2 years of scootering here in Israel..(I say 100000 kms. on all 9 scooters.)
I hope you enjoy this and please be in touch...

About Me: I love scooter riding, visiting new places, but limit that pleasure in rainy season.
