The Bottom Line Remember your Mom on Mother's Day.
When I think about Mother's Day, I realize how much more important this day has become to me over the years. When I was a kid, I thought Mother's Day was not that big a deal. Now that I'm older, I know it IS a BIG deal and an important gesture to giving our mother's at least this one day of recognition they deserve for all they have done for us. A Mom's job is 24/7 and it never ends. In reading the different submissions, it's great to hear the various imaginative ideas that we all have for honoring and remembering our Mothers.
I am also a Mother and I'm fortunate enough to have two wonderful sons who also treat me on Mother's Day. When they were smaller, they actually used to make me "breakfast in bed" (for several years in a row). This was touching because #1) they hardly ever got up before me and, #2) they weren't very skilled at cooking. But that breakfast was always wonderful because they had made it for me. Now that they're older, they still take me out to lunch and give me a homemade Mother's Day card. I love the homemade Mother's Day card because it means that they have taken some extra time and thought to putting it together. It is also very personal and usually somehow involves a photo of our pug.
For my own Mother, I am driving down to where my parents live, in Orange County, California. I plan to take them both out to dinner. What I did this year is I bought my Mom some of the same items I 've been reviewing here from Avon. I got her a tube of the Avon Pro To Go Lipstick and a container of their Face Perfector. My Mom loves flowers, but my sister is the one who always gets Mom the perfect bouquet. I'm also going to get my Mom (and Dad, who reaps the benefits of Mother's Day too, as she does on Father's Day) a gift certificate to their favorite local restaurant. They are at the point in their lives where they don't need knick knacks or things for their home. They do still enjoy going out for good meals though. I really enjoy spoiling them when I can. My Mom's birthday is just a couple of weeks after Mother's Day, so it makes it extra challenging, but with the gift certificate for dinner to the restaurant, it'll take care of both occasions.
In recent years, my parents sometimes ask me to help them out with something. I'm helping them now with a project that is difficult for them to do themselves (it involves computer work). Not that I'm an expert, but I make the time to help them and I'm happy I'm able to do so.
Spending time with my Mom and Dad is very important for me too. I visit as often as I can and try to let them know how much I appreciate all they have ever done for me. They have always put themselves last, after their children. They have been a wonderful example of what a parent should be and I've been the lucky one to have been blessed with them as my parents. And....I'm bringing along "The Trouble with Angels" so we can laugh and remember this fun movie that we watched so long ago together.

I came across a Mother's Remembrance and thought I would share a portion of it. It's really beautiful.
"...Your Mother is always with you. She is the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street. She is the smell of certain foods that you remember, flowers you pick and perfume that she wore. She is the cool hand on your brow when you're not feeling well. She is your breath in the air on a cold winter's day. She is the sound of the rain. Your Mother lives inside your laughter, and she is crystallized in every tear drop. She is the place you came from, your first home, and she is the map that you follow with every step you take.
She is your first love, your first friend, even your first enemy, but nothing on earth can separate you....not time, not space, not even death.
May we never take our Mothers for granted."

Happy Mother's Day to all Moms, living or deceased.
