Seagrams Satisfying Seven

Written: Jan 16 '02
The Bottom Line: Buy it, consume it, enjoy it. It is everything a whiskey should be and more.

A classic American Blended Whiskey. The price is excellent, and unless you are getting cheated, or buying your liquor at a grocery store you WILL NOT pay over 12 bucks for this drink. I recently became infactuated with the "seven and seven" it is a classic drink that should only be made with 7UP and Seagram's Seven. For a "quick fix" a nice shot of 'seven can't be beat. I like it with coke, coffee, 7UP, sour mix, straight, on the rocks, and I take it alone or with somebody, any time it will satisfy. I would even pick this whiskey over any of the "top shelfers" (ie, crown royal, knob creek,etc...). It is great after work, watching a game (ie, OSU beating Michigan), or after that "big test". Seagram's Seven is in a class by itself, it has a distinctive whiskey flavor, and a smooth carmely finish. At 80 proof/bottle it has "just enough" kick to get ya going. I would strongly recommend this outstanding beverage to any amateur or pro consumer of whiskey young (over 21 of course) or old. It is even "smooth" enough I have found some ladies to indulge in this heavenly pleasure.
If you like to "play around" with drink recipes and stuff, try adding a good quality amaretto (Not De Kuyper--too syrupy, try Di Saranno) to your seven and seven.
Another good combo (but fierce) is 1oz Seagrams Seven, 1oz Captain Morgan, and a splash of ever clear. Shake with lots of ice. Strain into a glass filled with ice cubes, add 7up and top with an optional dash of cherry brandy or triple sec according to taste.
And at 10-12 bucks a pop you can't pass it up.
