Gill,
Reading your comment made me laugh until I cried. It does indeed sound like our fathers were cut of the same cloth. I can so easily imagine myself in a similar telephone call.
A pity that only my eldest daughter has any recollection of my father. His cool reserve would melt away with the very sight of her.
I do so miss him.
Best regards,
Rudi

This is the second review of yours to make me cry. (Reply to this comment)

The first was "The Road To Hana" and now this!
My father was the remote English gentleman. I remember once speaking to him for five minutes on the phone and thinking "This is going well" only to find I had the wrong number!
My mother more than made up for his failings, though.
Lovely,treasured memories of your father.
Gill.

....touching and loving read. :)
I guess when it gets down to it, what we all want is time and to feel loved by those we love...Your father sounds like a very wise, listening, man...make it a great day......kath
