Pros: It looks updated.
Cons: Very unstable. Not reliable. Too many Error Messages!!!!!!
The Bottom Line: I do not recommend this product. You would fair better with Windows 95, 98 or even ME.

| MeghenR's Full Review: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (N09-00048) For ... |
I bought Windows XP when it first came out. I was so excited that there was another Operating System from Windows that could replace my Windows ME.
I took my time in the store, reading and re reading the system requirements and the rest of the box. I took my time in asking the software tech about it and even asked some customers in the store if they were using it and asked what they had to say about it. I heard nothing but positives about it. So, I decided, heck, I'll give it a try, because it has to be better than the Windows ME.
I paid for the product and was so excited to get home to install Windows XP. I get home and just like any kid on Yule, I rip open the box, throw all the little advertisments that were in the box away, and grab the CD. I backed up all my important stuff that was needed to run my business. Then, I opened the CD-ROM drive and inserted the CD in and closed it up. Up came the Windows XP set up screen.
I get it installed and was thinking I can hardly wait to use this because it has to be better than the ME I was using. It boots up. I'm in the middle of doing the tutorial that comes up on the first boot and low and behold, there is an error message and the screen goes to that black then blue screen.
So, I shut down, reboot, do the virus scan, scan disk, defrag and reboot thing. It reboots and before I can even get my internet set up, guess what! Another error message. So, I go in and delete everything, meaning I went in and wiped off the OS and partitions as if my hard drive was brand new with no operating system. I install XP again. The same thing happens.
I throw all the stuff back into the box it came in, grabbed the receipt and headed back to the store. They told me that I just got a bad copy and exchanged it. So I go back home to restart this whole thing all over again. And it was exactly that, starting the whole error message thing all over again.
So, I decide to go to a different branch store, thinking, ok, well, they must have gotten a bad batch of this item. I get to the different store, get my exchange and go back home. I install it. No error messages. I'm thinking, ok great! now this is going to work!
A week goes by, I have nothing but error messages in just about every area of the soft ware you can imagine.
Needless to say, by the time everything was said and done, I had exchanged XP 7 different time.
In my honest opinion, Windows XP is the worst thing Microsoft has ever come up with. Oh yes, it looks different, it looks like it's ready for the new century, but you know what, looks do not make a product.
So, you are probably wondering what I did? Well, I went back to the store, talked to the manager and finally after arguing for 20 minutes, got a refund on XP. I went to my friend's house, got on the internet, and ordered myself a copy of Windows 98!
