The product is satisfactory if you do not need more than 2 receivers per household and you do not expect to move within your contract period.
But, the customer service from this company is TERRIBLE. I ordered the top 150 for $39.99 a month and was given the top 100 for $39.99 a month, when I called they said that I was required to pay $5 per month for insurance on the equipment and they would repair the equipment if something went wrong (they still own the equipment, I did not purchase it).
I was disconnected one month, when I called they said they had not received my payment, so I paid by phone assuming that the check was lost in the mail. Two months later I get the check back from them with a letter saying they did not know where to apply the money because my account number was not on the check, apparently they did not attempt to look up by my name and/or address, as both were clearly on the check, but I let it go...
I moved and went through the dish mover program within three months of installation and was told they would send new receivers to my new address and I scheduled installation (advertised for $99) that couldn't be done until a week later. 5:30 p.m. the day before installation came and I didn't have my receivers I called and was told that they would phone Fed Ex and see why, only to learn that Dish gave them the wrong street direction (South vs. North) on my street and they could not deliver. I was told that I would have to reschedule my installation OR that I could drive to the Fed Ex facility and pickup the receivers (20 miles away), after having done without TV for a week already I agreed to go pick up the receivers, after much complaining about their incompetent mistake. Basically all they said was "I don't know what to tell you..."
So, we purchased a house 7 months later (June) and DID NOT call to get another dish installed, but still paid for our service only to be sent boxes without explanation to send back the equipment, as I was glad to get rid of them I did so... only to be billed for $398 by a debt collector for 3 months because they said they did not get the equipment back. I can't tell you how much time I spent on the phone with them giving them tracking numbers from the boxes they sent and arguing the fact that it was ever turned over to a debt collector in the first place (they told me to square up with UPS, the vendor they sent to pick up the boxes)!
After finally getting that taken care of with the help of UPS a mere 3 months later, they then send (through the debt collector) a bill for $263 saying I did not fulfill my annual contract (Aug. 2001) because I had one more month to go. After MUCH frustration and calling I finally spoke with a supervisor that agreed that he would try to arrange to have that taken care of because of my experience. He was to call me back within 48 hours and never did, so I assume he just did it - NOT.
Well, guess what, Jan. 2002 get another letter from the same debt collector for the same amount, much time speaking to their rude customer service reps and supervisors only to be told that they reversed the fee in Feb. when I was disconnected before (because of their inability to look up my account)and they would not reverse it this time.
I would say to NOT contract with these people for service for any amount of time, they do not recognize the mistakes they make, nor do they care if they inconvenience the customer. I will not pay this fee for breaking the contract (I was told they disconnected my service because I still owed them $11.63, which was paid when I sent the receivers back in August). The debt collector has reported this to the credit bureau even thought I am disputing it tooth and nail and I am considering hiring an attorney.
I paid over $800 for 11 months of service, and corrected mistakes they made many times and they keep pulling out amounts owed to them by me because they know they will never get another penny from me!
