The Bottom Line A mouthwatering treat that isn't too bad for you to eat.

Background:
While making dinner yesterday, I discovered I was out of hot dog buns. I have heard of making pigs in a blanket using Bisquick and thought I would give it a try. Below is what I came up with.

Ingredients
:
4 Hot dogs
2 1/4 cup Bisquick
2/3 cup water
4 Provolone Cheese Slices

Directions
:
Steam hot dogs for 5 minutes in steamer or in pot of water. Drain.
Meanwhile combine Bisquick and water. Mix and then shape into ball with hands. Scatter some flour on a piece of wax paper and press (flatten) dough on it with your hand. Divide dough into 4 equal pieces.
Wrap slice of cheese around dog. Wrap and shape dough around cheese dog. Pinch to seal. Place on cookie sheet.

Bake:

For 15 minutes at 450 degrees.

Serve
:
Use knife to make slit in top of bun without cutting dog. Place desired condiments inside. Serve hot.

Variation
:
While dogs are baking. Saute mushrooms in medium skillet over low heat. Combine package of freshly sliced mushrooms with dash or Oregano, Parsley, Garlic Powder, and about a Tablespoon of Mushroom Broth. Drain before placing inside slit of cheese dog bun.

You can also make this dog without the cheese.

Suggestions
:
I used cheese made with 2% milk and turkey hot dogs for myself and my husband had the all beef franks.

Taste
:
I don't normally like hotdogs, but my husband loves them. We usually grill them and they repeat on me to no end. The cheese dog in a blanket tasted delcious. I only wished I had discovered it sooner. It was the perfect way to eat a hotdog and gave me no digestion problems. It was also mouthwatering, filling, and stayed neatly in it's wrap making it a mess-free meal.
