It's films like Transformers 2 that makes me want to rebel against Hollywood. Even as an aspiring auteur. I just want to make films about real things. Real life, real situations. Stuff that people can relate to. And not with some tacked-on Hollywood ending bullsh*t. Something that would even make those in Hollywood angry.

You've somehow struck me as more discriminating in the past. NIGHTS OF CABIRIA is the only picture here on your list that I could recommend, myself.
But I do feel a lethargy in films now. Think of the genuinely entertaining pictures full of anger, vitality, desire to show the corruption of our nation, and sincere patriotism, which flooded out of Hollywood in the 1930's and 1940's. Those movies petered out after a final supernova in the 1970's. Now we are making movies based on video games and comic books, as you suggest here.
We need real movies, not foolish wish-fulfillments. The economic and political leaders of America have robbed of us of trillions of dollars, turned us into a corporatist state, feared, hated, or laughed at in the rest of the World!
Let's work toward a better 2010!
