Don't Hate-Appreciate (Reply to this comment)

I own a 2002 Volvo C70 2.4 Turbo Convertible. I purchased my extended warranty on March 20th 2012, i was told that i would be covered until 100,000 miles or 2019. I was told that they had a grace peroid(waiting period) of 1 month and 1,000 miles, so i did what they said and took my car into an authorized licensed mechanic like i was told because i was having transmission and window problems. I dropped off my car on Thursday the 10th of May 2012, they called the claims department and explained the problems i was experiencing, the claims employee said that they were going to send out an inspector within 48-72 business hours. On Monday May 14th 2012 the inspector arrived, reviewed the problems and approved the claim. The total cost of my repairs was around $7500 which was quite a bit, but because i have my warranty i did not have to pay a penny. On Thursday May 17th 2012 I received a call from the mechanic informing me that my car was ready, so i went to go pick it up. I went there and checked out the car, the transmission was a rebuilt but had 0 Miles and the windows were working fine so i left the mechanics with the exact amount of money as i had when i walked in. I was truly very happy with my experience that i had with Interstate National Dealer Services.
If anyone would bother to read the contract that is sent to every new customer, you would realize that it is very clear on what they do and do not fix on your vehicle. Your claim can be denied if you have not taken proper care of your car. By that i mean, having transmission flushes, engine flushes, tune ups,oil changes, and the other necessary common sense work. How can you expect a Extended Warranty company to pay out on a claim if you just pay your monthly payment but have never done any of those things? Before you complainers bought the warranty, you should have looked up this company online and searched for reviews and find out more about the company but you didn't and now you want to come on here and put negative reviews about this company because you most likely couldn't be bothered to keep up regular maintenance and read your contract, who's fault is that?
For people who are thinking about purchasing a warranty i advise you to do so. I bought my car in February 2012 for $5,300 and 3 months later it messed up, luckily i bought this policy and they fixed my repairs which cost $7500. The reason you won't find positive reviews is because people who have been satisfied mostly do not feel the need to come on places like this and tell everyone, but the people who feel like they have been apparently wronged have nothing but time so they write bad reviews. This is the best thing I've ever spent my money on.

Re: AAA warranty (Reply to this comment)

I have had good luck with my extended warranty so far.
On the BBB web sight it list Greg Sargent as the VP of Customer Service and their location is in business park in Mansfield Ma. Have you thought about going there? Also have you filled a complaint with the BBB for Interstate as they advertise a A and as I understand the process administer the claim.
Good Luck

AAA warranty (Reply to this comment)
by ekibobrut1
I, too, figured a warranty thru AAA was a safe bet. NOT !! I purchased the same deal thru AAA which was covered by Nat'l Dealer Services.
I sold the car 17 months into the contract, and requested a pro-rata refund. That was July 27 2009. To date, November 10, 2009, I still have not rec'd it. I contact them every 2 weeks and they always have an answer---we're working on it or I've got to check with a supervisor and I'll get back to you--which--they NEVER do. Their "Member Services" dept. gives a whole new meaning to the word "SERVICE". I wouldn't use AAA for anything but road service---which they have always been terrific on.

BBB closed the case but the company still has an A rating with them despite there being no resolution. Guess now I know what to think of those BBB ratings...
I think this review has done more damage. I have had a few emails thanking me for my thoughts and was contacted by another company who offers this type of insurance saying they would cover me and retroactively pay for that repair if I would take it down. No thanks guys...

You could probably complain through the following and get some results:
1. The AAA, after all, they referred you.
2. The Better Business Bureau in your area, or in the area of AAA's head quarters or in the area of the insurance vendor's headquarters
3. Your state agency that deals with consumer fraud. Once you start using the F (fraud) word, state agencies start developing an interest.
4. Your state insurance commission
5. The state insurance commission in the state where AAA is heaqdquartered
6. The state insurance commission in the state where the insurance vendor is headquartered.
I've had my best luck with the BBB. They've gotten me satisfaction in a couple of situations where weasels didn't do what they promised and were trying to stick it to me. Neither situation was as much as you spent, but one of them was around $300.
Good luck. Email me if you want more specific suggestions.

I have always had the feeling that these extended warranties were a bad deal. I'm glad to say I've never fallen for it, but part of that is because I have a husband who really knows his way around car repair.
Very good advice.

I feel you pain... (Reply to this comment)

we fell for it too when we purchased a used luxury automobile, and the dealer said this was a "platinum" policy, blah, blah... I can't remember the name, but there arent' that many companies out there. The policy was useless, and we ended up paying a lot of out of pocket, that the policy didn't cover. Like you said, it's best to put the amount of the policy in a little escrow account, of sorts, for future repairs.
Happy 4th,
